Worcester Male Voice Choir

Worcester Male Voice Choir was formed in 1987 from choristers who had been singing in the Worcester City Police Choir. One of the conductors in those early years was Henry Sandon of Antiques Road Show fame who still occasionally is seen to conduct a piece or compere a concert for the Choir. Membership has gradually grown to over 70 members and regular recruitment exercises have ensured that the Choir has a bright future. Standards have improved with the talent and commitment of the musical team of Nicholas Wright,(Musical Director) Shelia Leatherland, (Accompianist) Scott Wolfendon (Assistant Accompianist) and Hadyn Thomas. (Deputy Conductor). The Choir has a repertoire of over 200 pieces with arrangements in English, Welsh and at least 5 other languages.

The Choir obtained charity status itself and has raised a figure fast approaching £200,000 for local and national charities. Recent charities to have benefited include Prostate Cancer UK, Midlands Air Ambulance , Parkinsons UK, MacMIllan Cancer, St Richards Hospice, Acorns, Kids Run Free and Worcestershire Headway.

The Choir has performed in numerous venues locally and nationally including the Royal Albert Hall, London, Symphony Hall and Town hall Birmingham, Colston Hall, Bristol and many of the prestigious Cathedrals throughout England.
